Continuing our love of doughnuts, this week, we're chatting all things churros. Those crispy, cinnamon tops and juicy doughnut sticks are so divine, especially for parties. But, they're often deep-fried and topped with sugar, meaning they're not a great all-the-time snack. Unless you make an alternative, healthier version, that is.
Cue our Nutritional Vanilla Gluten-Free Latte sachet, which you can substitute in your churros recipes to create a healthier option that leaves your taste buds satisfied without the nasties. Our sugar-free latte powder isn't just good for you as it has zero refined sugar in it, though. It's also packed with antioxidants, anti-inflammatories and nutritional benefits.
What other benefits does our vanilla have?
Our vanilla latte is great for the mind, body and soul. Using natural vanilla is great for the brain, helping to promote a sense of calm and relaxation. If you need a hand falling asleep, this dairy-free drink is also the way to go, helping to slow your mind and body down, priming it for a deep and fulfilling night's sleep.
Vanilla is also phenomenal for the skin, helping to clear acne by removing inflammation that may be causing flare-ups, itching and redness. It's a great substitute for medication and creams that may harm the body.
Our vanilla is even a natural stomach soother. If you have stomach discomfort, are feeling nauseous (especially while pregnant), or are constipated, our healthy vanilla drink is a great way to suppress those symptoms, keeping your gut microbiome healthy.
How to make healthy vanilla latte churros
Here are the ingredients you will need:
- 4 Tablespoons of vegan, unsalted butter
- 2 Tablespoons of the Jomeis Fine Foods Nutritional Vanilla Latte mix
- 1 Cup of all-purpose flour
- A pinch of salt
- 2 Large eggs - Use Aquafaba for a vegan alternative
- Oil for frying
How to make them:
- Bring butter, 1.5 Tablespoons Nutritional Vanilla Latte and half a cup of water to the boil, mixing all ingredients to combine.
- Turn the heat off, then mix flour and salt, stirring until thick. Adjust the quantities of water and flour until you have a thick but runny consistency.
- Leave the mixture for ten to twenty minutes while it cools
- Add eggs, one at a time, mixing with a beater until it becomes fluffy
- Transfer your mix to a piping bag. You can use a star tip to get that churro shape.
- Fry each churro in oil for approximately 4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked on the inside. Transfer cooked churros to a plate lined with paper towel to drain the oil.
- Sprinkle over the remaining Jomeis Fine Foods Vanilla Latte mix for an extra hit of flavour
- Enjoy!
