What are the benefits of Cacao?
Anyone who tells you that chocolate isn't good for you is a liar! While it's true that chocolate blocks laden with sugar are bad for you when eaten too often, sugar-free, dairy-free cacao is the opposite of bad. In fact, it's packed with benefits that can transform your mind, body and soul.
For starters, it's a fantastic mood booster that can help you feel happier or a little stressed. It does this through its compound, anandamide, which can signal to the brain that there are no threats about and that it's time to be happy.
Cacao is also packed with healthy vitamins and minerals, including iron, which helps your body achieve the goodness it needs to feel incredible each day. Some other minerals cacao is high in are; calcium, copper, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc.
Maybe the saying should be, "A cacao latte a day keeps the doctor away."
How to make our gluten-free cookies
Our Cacao Latte is a nutritional and essential ingredient in our double chocolate chip cookies. With it, you'll receive all of the above benefits, plus so much more, including an anti-oxidising and anti-inflammatory boost.
Here's how to make them:
The Ingredients:
- 1/2 a cup of vegan butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract (or mix your Jomeis Fine Foods Nutritional Vanilla Latte with some honey!)
- 1 cup of gluten-free flour
- 1/2 a cup of Jomeis Fine Foods Cacao Latte Powder
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of dairy-free/plant-based milk
- 1 cup of vegan chocolate chips
The Method
- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
- Beat the butter, egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Mix all of the dry ingredients (except the chocolate chips) together in a separate bowl.
- Slowly add them to the wet ingredients, beating to combine. You want a soft, but sticky and tacky dough. Add more wet or dry ingredients as needed to achieve this.
- Once you're happy with the consistency of your dough, add the chocolate chips and mix to combine.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal-sized pieces and roll into balls. Flatten slightly on baking paper and bake for 12 minutes (or until golden).
- Cookies will be soft when you remove them from the oven but will harden as they cool.
- Enjoy!
