Mental health and well-being can be an uncomfortable topic for many to talk about, even though 1 in 4 people will have a mental health challenge at some point in their life!
Stigmas associated with these issues can be the very reason people don’t share or seek help regarding their struggles. Life can get tough, and it’s ok to not be ok!
Your mental health is just as important as your physical well-being so let’s chat about it…
How would you rate your own mental well-being?
According to the Ryff Scale, mental wellness is measured by the following areas:
Autonomy- Would you say that you can own your own opinion of any matter even if it were contrary to common consensus?
Environmental- In general, do you feel in charge of the situation in which you live?
Personal growth- Do you welcome situations and experiences that may challenge what you think and believe about yourself and the world?
Positive relations with others- Would others describe you as a giving person? The kind of person who is willing to give your time and attention to others.
Purpose in life- Do you wander aimlessly through life or stride through life with direction and purpose?
Self-acceptance- Do you like yourself and all aspects of your personality?
Now, these are just a few questions to hopefully get you thinking about your strengths and some areas you could work at improving. It’s always good to check in with yourself and always seek the support of a professional if you feel the need.
